Youngquist Parks It in Dynes Racing Debut
Justin Youngquist debuted the Dynes Racing sprint car in Sage Fruit Victory Lane with the Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprints on Saturday night. After winning his heat race, Youngquist started from the outside front row and led all twenty five laps, turning away a strong charge from Kelsey Carpenter over the final five laps to secure the win.
The Leaded Coffee Company 95 car qualified 6th out of 15 Sportsman Sprint cars that qualified for the event. Youngquist would go on to win the heat race in convincing fashion and made little changes to the car before the feature event.
"We really didn't make many changes to the car all night," said Justin after the race. "We tweaked little things with the setup as the track wore out, but it didn't get as dry as we thought it might through the A Main." With a new Shark Racing Engines power plant under the hood, Justin was able to lead all twenty five circuits around the 3/10 mile Skagit oval.
"I saw no other outcome but winning, not that we have anything to prove, but the race is won in the shop in the days before," said car co-owner Lisa Dynes. "Our team has come together and made this a dream," she added. The race marked the 10th season Matt Dynes has worked with Justin and the first race for Conner Nelson with the team. Nelson, whose traveled the country for the last several seasons with both the ASCS tour and World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, returned home in the off season and has joined the Dynes Racing team.
"I'm looking forward to the rest of the year," Nelson said. "The night went really smooth and we have some stuff to work on to be even better," he said.
None of what has come together to become Dynes Racing would be possible without the time, dedication, and support of the crew, partners, and supporters of the team. "We have tremendous support from our sponsors and I expect nothing but the best on and off the track for them," Lisa Dynes said.
