Fast Time Highlights Youngquist's GHR Weekend
Elma, WA – Justin Youngquist and the Dale Melin owned #56 team traveled to Grays Harbor Raceway this past Saturday, where Youngquist would score his first career quick time award as well as an eighth place finish in the A Main.
After scorching the Elma clay with a time trial lap at 12.742 seconds, Youngquist would transfer direct to the A Main via a fourth place finish in his heat race. As quick qualifier, Justin had a hand in determining his fate for the night with the dice roll for the invert, where he’d roll a six. At the outset of the main, Justin went to the bottom and tried to move forward. He’d maintain his position while trying to find the quickest groove before the fuel load burned off. The top of the racetrack came in before Youngquist was free enough to race up there comfortably, and he’d lose a couple of positions before getting to the high side and bringing home the car in eighth.

“I’m disappointed in myself as the driver that we couldn’t parlay quick time into a better main event finish, but at the end of the night, we accomplished some good things as a team. Grays Harbor isn’t a place where I have a particular lot of seat time or setup notes to go off of, so to come out and set quick time is a real stepping stone for our team. It feels like we are making a lot of strong strides in the right direction and that we’ll be able to contend for wins, so that gives us a solid goal to work towards,” said Justin.
As the team prepares for their next race night at Skagit Speedway this coming Saturday, Justin wants to recognize the driving force behind this season’s effort. “We’d be racing half as often this year if not for Dale Melin. Thanks to his business, Northern Collision in Edmonton, he’s got the resources to give us everything we need to succeed, and we’re really fortunate to have him as a car owner. We can’t wait to celebrate our first win together!” said Justin.
