First Top Five of the Year for Youngquist
Alger, WA – The first appearance of the Summer Thunder Sprint Car Series at Skagit Speedway coincided with Justin Youngquist’s first top five finish of the year, a fourth place result that has the team brimming with confidence heading into this week’s race at Grays Harbor Raceway.
After qualifying eighth out of twenty four cars, Youngquist would need a top four run in his heat to make the main event redraw, which is exactly what he did. The three pill came out of the bag for his redraw, giving Youngquist prime real estate to work with in the 25 lap main. The early going of the feature saw Justin a bit too snug in the Dale Melin owned #56 XXX, dropping back to eighth place around mid race before a surge forward ended up with a solid fourth place finish.

“At the start of the main, I was afraid that we were in trouble because I just couldn’t get the car to turn, we were so tight. Thankfully, lap by lap the fuel load burned off and the car really came alive. I figure it was around lap 10-15 that we got really fast, and started showing what our car and team could really do. I’m pleased with our first top five, now we need to build on that and get our setup to come in a little sooner so we can visit victory lane at Grays Harbor,” said Justin.
New to the team this week was a new number – 56, the number Youngquist ran in previous seasons. According to Justin, “Dale decided there were too many 22’s at the track, so we were happy to bring back our old 56. Kudos to Image 360 – they did all our vinyl printing and installation, and it was simple and easy to work with them on getting the car lettered and especially the number change this week.”
